jenny deller: writer/director/producer > statement > work
Jenny got her start as a director in the DIY arts scene in Portland, Oregon, where her studies in acting, writing, and directing culminated in a one-woman show she wrote and performed based on jazz singer Anita O'Day. Soon after, her 16mm burlesque short, The Interview, screened at both the Egg Fest and Open Cine in New York. Before leaving the Northwest, she wrote and directed The 7Up View, a video valentine to Portland's neon lights. Jenny went on to study acting at the American Conservatory Theatre in San Francisco, and soon moved to New York where her acting training ran the gamut from pantomime to Meisner. Her New York credits include a Russian firebrand on Law & Order, Juliet in Romeo & Juliet, and cover girl for Philip Morris' Quit Assist campaign. During her five years in New York, she also produced and directed two more shorts, including a video adaptation of Marguerite Duras' Savannah Bay, and wrote numerous short stories, a feature-length screenplay, and monologues for the stage based on Barbara Sonneborn's documentary Regret to Inform. In 2004, Jenny moved to Philadelphia to live with her partner and develop her first feature. She is the recipient of grants from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, the National Endowment for the Humanities and has published writing in Cineaste and Plazm magazines. She brings her knowledge of Internet Marketing to the production from her position as Senior Copywriter for women's retailer Anthropologie. |

kristin fairweather: producer
Kristin Fairweather was recently selected to represent Future Weather at the Los Angeles Film Festival’s highly competitive Fast Track financing market, where she took meetings with film industry leaders including Magnolia, Focus Features, Mandalay Pictures, and Fox Searchlight. Kristin has worked in local politics and public finance in Philadelphia for the past ten years, managing public relations campaigns as well as large field efforts for local politicians – an experience that translated well to film production. Before going to work at both local and state levels in public finance and elective politics, she received her Masters in Government Administration from the University of Pennsylvania. In 2007, Fairweather launched the Philadelphia franchise of Metropolitan Moms, a service that organizes trips and cultural activities for moms and babies. As a producer, her entrepreneurial savvy has aided in development and marketing for Future Weather and will play a crucial role in managing pre-production. She was instrumental in producing Save the Future, Deller's companion-short to Future Weather for the Netflix FIND Your Voice Film Competition. Kristin was selected to participate in the 2009 FIND Producers Lab. |

carolina roca-smith: associate producer
Carolina Roca-Smith is a filmmaker/producer whose work attempts to discover the intricacies of the human condition. She received her B.A. in film and media arts from Temple University in 2004, but this is not where she got her start in the industry. In 1996, Carolina joined the United States Air Force where she lived and worked in Italy as a television broadcaster and producer. When the crisis broke out in Kosovo she was sent to cover the conflict and shot material for networks around the world. Her footage has aired on CNN, ABC, NBC, CBS, and worldwide affiliates. In March of 2000, Carolina was honored at the White House with the Photographer of the year award in video editing. After her honorable discharge from the Air Force she moved to Philadelphia to pursue her work as a producer. Carolina has produced and directed numerous short films including “Members Only” which was nominated for the Iris Prize in 2008 and available for viewing through Frameline Distribution. Although Carolina will always be an east coast girl, she currently lives in West Hollywood.

zak mulligan: director of photography
An Ohio native, Zak began his career in New York after studying photography at Arizona State University. The cinematographer's latest narrative feature Obselidia took home the Alfred P. Sloan award, and also premiered at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival in the Dramatic Film Competition where it won the Excellence in Cinematography award for his work. Other film work includes A Piece of America (Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival) and Noah Buschel's You’re Gonna Feel Funny After (Charlotte Film Festival, Zero Film Festival). Aside from commercial work for clients such as Bravo TV, Kraft, Sony Ericsson, and American Express, Zak has also shot a number of music videos for bands including Passion Pit, Mute Math, Flying Lotus, and Woodhands (his video for “I Wasn’t Made For Fighting” was an official selection of Slamdance 2009 and The 49th Annual Krakow Film Festival). Zak has just concluded principal photography on the narrative feature I’m Not Me (imnotmethemovie.com), a film which will mark his debut as a writer and director |

joe guest: line producer
Joe grew up on an organic vegetable farm in Vermont. He met Jenny Deller at Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon, where they both studied Art & Theater. For the last ten years, Joe has worked as a location manager, photographer and producer for film, tv and commercials. Joe bases his operations in the northeast United States, spending most of his time in New York and Pennsylvania. He travels and works all over planet earth. As a location manager, Joe has dealt with extraordinary circumstances in a diversity of places. He has worked with some of the most talented filmmakers alive today - film and television credits include Mildred Pierce (HBO), Salt, Sex and the City 2, Taking Woodstock, Doubt, American Gangster, Last Days and Angels in America (HBO). As Line Producer, Joe's extensive production experience plays a key role in maintaining smooth operations on the set.

gino fortebuono: production designer
Gino began his film career as a set dresser on Mark Webber's (Broken Flowers, The Memory Thief) directorial debut Explicit Ills and has since seen a progression through various Art Department roles on feature length, short form, and commercial projects. In the fall of 2008 Gino had the privilege of collaborating with Writer/Director Jeremy Engle in designing Mosquito, starring Alejandro Polanco (Chop Shop). Mosquito has since won the 2010 Spirit of Slamdance Award and continues to make it's rounds on the festival circuit. In the summer of 2009 Gino was the Production Designer for Mayor Cupcake, starring Lea Thompson (Back to the Future, Jaws 3-D) and Judd Nelson (The Breakfast Club). Future Weather is Gino's fourth feature length design piece.

cora olson & jennifer dubin: executive producers
Future Weather Productions is thrilled to be working with the women behind Present Pictures, who have generously provided their mentorship to the production. Jen and Cora founded Present Pictures in 2006. They produced THE BABYSITTERS, starring John Leguizamo, Katherine Waterston & Cynthia Nixon, which sold at the 2007 Toronto International Film Festival to Peace Arch Entertainment. In 2007, they produced Marianna Palka's debut feature GOOD DICK, starring Jason Ritter, Marianna Palka, and Tom Arnold. It premiered in Dramatic Competition at the 2008 Sundance Film Festival. Present Pictures is also distributing and the film is now available on DVD.
timshel purdum: school programs manager, academy of natural sciences
Timshel has over 13 years of experience in informal education, including experience at nature centers, residential environmental education centers and museums. At the Academy, she currently teaches a course called Global Climate Change, in which 7th-9th graders perform experiments, interpret graphs, discuss and evaluate data, and participate in role-playing activities to understand this important topic. She has been a wonderful resource on climate science.
najwa smith: former community perspectives in education manager, academy of natural sciences
Educator, mentor, scientist and women's advocate, Najwa has been instrumental in ensuring that the science portrayed in Future Weather is accurate. Najwa received her masters in Crop & Soil Environmental Sciences from Virginia Tech. After her graduate work, she joined the Peace Corps and was posted to Gabon in Central Africa. Here she worked on environmental projects with women’s groups and girls’ clubs, as well as leading environmental education programs at primary schools in villages in the southern-central region of the country.

kemper herron
Kemper completed his first feature length script by the time he was 17. He continued to expand on this passion at Temple University, where he also studied acquisitions and distribution. After graduating with honors in 2004, Kemper went on to be one of the founding members of the Secret Pants comedy troupe, which spent a good amount of 2005 as one of the top ten downloaded podcasts on iTunes.
karyn gerred
Karyn Gerred is a painter and professional scenic artist in United Scenic Artists Local USA 829. Her credits include Invincible, Lady in the Water, American Gangster and The Lovely Bones. She studied fine arts/painting at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, graduating with a BFA in 1989. After several years painting for theatre, commercials, episodic television and feature films, she has decided to redirect her efforts from working on films, to working on changing the way films are made. Most recently, Karyn contributed her environmental awareness and behind-the-scenes film knowledge to GPFO's SETS Guide.
